Termed as the 'RashtrapatiNiwas', the Viceregal Lodge is situated on the Observatory Hill in Shimla. The building was earlier the house of the then Viceroy of India Lord Dufferin. The design of the lodge was formulated by Henry Irvine. He has used Scottish architecture and local woods like pine and cedar to construct this marvelous house. From its balcony, you can have a spectacular view of mountain ranges covered in snow, which sparkle when the light of the sun falls on them. The lodge is encircled with gardens on all sides and is covered with pine trees that add charm to the place.
