Located in Kavalar, near the town of Yelagiri, the observatory is an interesting place to view the movements of the different celestial bodies.It was built by Dr. VainiBapu and is now managed by Indian Institute of Astrophysics, Bangalore. The prime attraction here is the largest telescope in Asia which is 93 inches in diameter. The tourists can enjoy the views of night sky and celestial bodies from a visitor’s telescope but prior permission should be taken to enter the observatory.
