Gurdwara - The Temple Of Sikhs

There is a sect who follows Sikhism in India. Their place of worship is Gurdwara. There are gurdwars almost in all the states of India. The people who follow Sikhism will go to gurdwara and offer their prayers. These gurdwara is the place where the guru of this sect will be worshipped. Their holy book is called the Grant sahib. This is also considered to be sacred. Each gurdwara has a sacrifice and story of a guru. Many gurdwars offer free food and tea. Gurudwara Fatehgarh Sahib is a place where the two sons of Guru Gobind Singh were bricked when they were still alive by a Muslim king.

People who follow Sikhism will follow the principles of the religion very strictly. They will not cut their hair, they will have a comb in their pocket, they will have a bangle in their right hand and they will have a turban on their head. These rules are followed very strictly by all the Sikhs all over the world. Silence and neatness is followed very strictly in the gurdwara. There are many donations given to the gurdwara which will help them to have the custom of langar or the free food which will satisfy the hunger of many travelers.

The followers of Sikhism will donate a lot of ration to the gurdwara which will help the gurdwara people to give free food to many people who come to the gurudwara. Many of the gurudwaras will be in a far off place where the travelers will find a rest place there. This will help them to get free boarding and lodging. This will solve many problems of the travelers. There is a gurdwara in a distance of about twenty five kilometers from Leh. This gurdwara is called Shri Paththar Sahib. This is the place where Guru Nanakji did meditation.

Sikhs are very hardworking people. They will not think on living on other people’s money. They give their lives to their friends. They will join the military service and give a lot of service to the nation. They are very popular for their patriotism. As they are hard working the military service will give a lot of preference for this sect people.  They are exempted from wearing the helmet as they have to wear their turbans.

They feel that the turban on their head is their pride. They will not give up their pride at any cost. Most of the historical gurdwaras are in the northern part of India.
