Bungee Jumping - Things to do

There is nothing more adrenaline pumping or thrilling than the kick you get free falling from a height. Bungee Jumping is not for the weak spirited or the timid. This is for those of you who have no fear of life and would love to experience the thrill of adventure sports.

Bungee jumping is quite popular in countries around the world like New Zealand, Australia, Europe and North America. In India, bungee jumping came in the early 1990s.Here this sport has become a favorite amongst a few adventure seeking people.

In bungee jumping a person falls from a structure of great height while connected to it by an elastic cord. The tall structure is usually a fixed object, such as a building, bridge or crane; but it is also possible to jump from a movable object, such as a hot-air-balloon or helicopter, that has the ability to hover above the ground. When the person jumps, the cord stretches and the jumper flies upwards again as the cord recoils. The jumper continues to oscillate up and down until all the energy is dissipated.

There are five major types of bungee jumping. Everyone knows the first type of bungee jumping. This is the plain old bungee jump. In this type of jump a person jumps off from a platform or any tall object.

The second type of bungee jumping is known as catapult, reverse bungee or bungee rocket. In this version of the bungee jump, the individual jumps on the ground and propel upwards.

The third type of bungee jumping is known as the Twin Towers. In this version of the bungee jump, there are two towers or cranes with bungee cords attached to the jumper. These are then set some distance apart, with the jumper in the middle.

The fourth type of bungee jumping is called the Bungee run. This type of bungee activity is done down an inflatable runway. The runner needs to run as far as possible before the bungee cord pulls them back toward the anchor point.

The fifth type of bungee jumping is named the Bungee Trampoline. In this jump a trampoline, is used in addition to poles and bungee cords. The jumper starts jumping on the trampoline, in a body part harness, adhered to bungee cords. The cords are attached to poles on the sides of the trampoline. As the jumper jumps up higher and higher, the cords are tightened.

Bungee Jumping around the world is done from various structures like Cranes, Bridges, and Buildings with Platforms, Towers, Hot Air Balloons, Helicopters and Cable Cars. There is sophisticated equipment that is used for Bungee Jumping like the Cord, Harness, and Big equipment’s like Mobile crane, a bungee jumping platform. The elastic rope that was first used in bungee jumping, and still used by many commercial operators, is factory-produced braided rubber cord. The cord is a set of 5 individual cords that you group together in a set of 3, 4, or 5.
