Trashigang is the easternmost tip on the highway. Trashigang is a melting pot of hill tribe people who come in to the settlement to trade. In particular, the unusual Merak and Sakteng folks come to Trashigang to trade yak's butter for the provisions that they need in the mountains. Trashigang Dzong sits on an uneven piece of land jutting out from the town and is the first land- mark that can be seen from the road twisting up to Trashigang. The Dzong was constructed in 1659 and commands a stunning view over the vale for which it is the administrative centre.
