In Kanyakumari, Thiruvalluvar Statue is among the must-see and most famous attractions. This statue is located on the edge of an island lying at the merging point of the Bay of Bengal, the Arabian Sea and the Indian Ocean and is one of the largest statues in India. This statue was constructed in the year 2000 to memorize a famous Tamil poet, saint and writer of Thirukkural – Thiruvalluvar. The statue is 133 feet tall and weighs more than 7000 tons, so it is not at all surprising that about more than 500 workers worked for making this statue.
