Situated at the distance of 8kms from Madurai, there lies the other famous temple of the city named Thiruparankundram. This magnificent temple is dedicated to Lord Subramaniya, who has six abodes in totality and it is one of them. Being the cave temple, it attracts its visitors very much and other main attraction of the temple is that there is a sculpture of Lord Shiva with Rishaba’s flag which is not at all common. Madurai is the city of great festivals and this temple is also famous for celebration of significant festival of the state named Vaigasi Visagam. The edifice structure of the temple is very appealing and especially its 48 pillars.
