In 1636 A.D., King Thirumalai Nayak presented Madurai with the unbeatableand incomparable gift to Madurai in form of Thirumalai Nayak Palace. The magnificent palace was constructed in very attractive manner and made it more highlighting by great use of Indo-Saracenic architectural style. Swargavilasa and Rangvilasa are the main sections of the palace. Also, there are the dancing hall and courtyard which allures the visitors a lot. The palace is beautifully decorated by making use of paintings, art work, manuscripts, etc. and also the furniture put in the palace of that era impresses its tourists. At present, the palace is under the control of Tamil Nadu Archaeological Department.
