It is upon this spring that the initial Bathhouse was built in 4 AD subsequent the Roman invasion of Britain. The remarkably well conserved Great Bath remains to this day, as well as the holy spring, initially worshipped by the Celts, and the Roman Temple. Today one can find a museum which is home to a wide-ranging collection of Roman artifacts found in and around the vicinity. Bath was once a busy ancient Roman urban, so there's plenty to see and explore. The newly opened Thermae Bath Spa offers present-day travelers to experience the hot springs and thermal baths as the Romans might once have.
