The Last Supper, Italy - Paintings

Art Gallery

The Last Supper, one of the best paintings ever made, is a 15th century mural painting in Milan created by Leonardo da Vinci for his patron Duke Ludovico Sforza and his duchess Beatrice d’être. It depicts the sight of The Last Supper from the last days of Jesus as it is told in the Gospel of John 13:21, when Jesus pronounces that one of his Twelve Disciples would deceive him. The painting was made with trial colorings straight on the dry plaster wall and unlike frescos; though it is unsuccessful in the test of time well. Over the years it has deteriorated, been sabotaged shelled and renovated.
