Built by King Tsespal Tondup Namgyal in 1825, Stok Palace was the residential palace of the royals of Ladakh. Nestled across the River Indus, this magnificent palace showcases an interesting blend of traditional and modern styles of architecture and is a famous tourist’s destination in Ladakh. The palace is surrounded by colorful gardens and offers stunning views of sunrise and sunset. It still houses some of the royal attires, crown and other artifacts associated with the bygone era of the rulers. An annual festival of dance- mask is also held at the palace that invites huge participation by the locals and the visitors.
