The Women’s market (Souk Al-Hareem) is so-called because all the sellers are women. It marks the doorway to the Old/Heritage Souk area in downtown Kuwait and is a well-liked attraction. The stalls sell all sorts of bits and bobs counting clothing hand-woven by the women themselves. The area can get quite busy and certainly has that old traditional souk feel about it, making it worth a visit if only to soak up the cultural atmosphere. This is the most important custom in the souks where the eternal array of shops is kept by women dressed on traditional attire selling what they have made themselves at home exhibiting simple long lasting traditions. It is situated within the Al-Mubarakiya area.
