Shivajis Ladder, Matheran, Maharashtra - An ideal trekking trail

Trekking, Scenic, Rock Climbing, Mountaineering

As the name suggests, there are steps in the form of ladder that form a way down from a hill top to the Matheran Valley. It is believed that the great Maratha ruler Chhattarpati Shivaji used these stairs while going for his hunting trips across the Matheran hills. This path was then rediscovered by Hugh Mallet in 1850 during the British rule. At present, this passage serves as an ideal trekking trail for the adventure enthusiasts to trek high up the hills of the region. Adding to this, the panoramic natural vistas and soothing environment of the place make it a haven for the nature lovers.
