The cavern of the Seven Sleepers is situated on Mount Pion, in the vicinity of Ephesus and is the site of many different sacred myths. According to Christian myth seven persecuted Christians fled from Ephesus and took shelter in a cavern. And they later realised that the cave was sealed and were trapped inside. The legend also says that these seven men slept for more than 300 years and miraculously woke up after an earthquake unsealed the cave. These Seven men died shortly after waking up and they were buried in the grotto in which they had been sleeping for years. This myth also appears in Koran.
