Located at a distance of 3km from Bhimtal in Uttarakhand, Sattal is an exceptional tourist spot with a cluster of freshwater lakes. Set at an altitude of 4000 feet, at the foothills of the Himalayas, Sattal is surrounded by dense forests of oak and pine trees.
As one approaches towards Sattal, the first lake is Nal-Damyanti Tal which is full of colorful fishes. Another one is the Panna Tal, also known as Garud Tal, and further on located the bunch of three lakes namely, Ram Tal, Laxman Tal and Sita Tal. The other two lakes which have probably dried up now are Purna Tal and Sukha Tal. The pristine
lakes of Sattal are rich in birdlife and are a home to migratory birds. These birds try to escape from the harsh cold of the great Himalayan region by migrating to the lower areas of the Himalayas. Sattal offers several camping, trekking, fishing, rock climbing, kayaking, and mountain biking opportunities for nature and adventure lovers. This beautiful spot is a must see when visiting Bhimtal.
