Rose garden in Chandigarh is the largest garden of roses in the entire Asia. The garden was set up in the year 1967 dedicating it to Former President of India Zakir Hussain. Chandigarh's first Chief Commissioner Dr M S Randhawa is said to be instrumental in establishing this beautiful garden. The garden covers an area of 27 acres and contains more than 17,000 different plants. One can see over thousands varieties of roses in this garden. There are so many medicinal plants and trees in the garden which include bahera, bel, camphor, harar and yellow gulmohar. An annual garden festival takes place here every year.Â
