There is only one fort in Varanasi to attract you and that is Ramnagar Fort. It is located at the opposite bank of holy river Ganga and was built by Maharaja Balwant Singh in 18th century. This magnificent fort was served as shelter for the Maharaja of Banaras and it was made so striking with the help of red sandstone. This gigantic fort houses a temple and a museum. The temple was constructed in order to honourVedVyasa, an author of Mahabharata. Today also, royal family of Varanasi still lives in this fort. The main attraction of this fort is the Durbar Hall or the hall of public audience.
