The Ambala Planetarium is the oldest and one of its kind in the entire country. Built in 1950, it was designed by PanditJagannath Sharma and is shaped like a dome. It was originally called as ‘chitra’ and grabs attention of visitors in the city. The major highlight of this place is the exhibition of sky that appears clear across the northern zone from any latitude all round the year. The visitors can view here the projection of 12 zodiac signs, 27 constellations and 400 stars that present a fascinating look to be experienced. Moreover, you can also see the moon craters and polar caps of the planets with the help of a telescope placed in the planetarium.
