Renowned for an ancient fort and famous Brijraj Temple, Nurpur is also an important tourist attraction in the Kangra region. The massive Nurpur fort was built by Raja Basu in the late 16th century. This beautiful palace is named after Nurjahan, the Mughal Emperor Jahangir’s wife who took a fancy at this place. Decorated with fine murals, exquisitearchitect, decorative arches and beautiful paintings, the palace is a great piece of Indian architecture and design. Inside the Nurpur fort is the famous Brijraj Temple dedicated to Lord Krishna. It houses a beautiful idol of the Lord in black stone.
