Nestled at the top of the Chitrasal Hill, Navagraha temple is one of the most interesting fascinations in Guwahati. Lying on the northwest corner and only 3 kms away from Guwahati Railway Station, Navagraha temple is devoted to nine celestial bodies or “Grahas” namely Surya, Chandra, Mangal, Budhan, Brihaspati, Shukra, Shani, Rahu and Ketu. In this holy temple, these Grahas are imposed in form of 9 Lingas dressed up in nine different colors. The temple was constructed in the 18th century and is supposed to be one of the oldest temples in Guwahati during the ruling period of Ahom King Rajeshwar Singh.
