Located in the proximity to Kanjia Lake, Nandan Kanan is one of the main national parks of Bhubaneswar. This Zoo is situated at the distance of 18 kms from the city and is covering more than about 400 hectares. Though established in the year 1960, the park got publicly opened in 1979. The Zoo has lot to offer to its visitors in form of sanctuary, exciting zoo and serene environment. The word “Nandan kanan” literally means the “Garden of Pleasure”. White Tigers are the main source of attraction in the Zoo but it is also home to lot other animals. Other than all these, the Zoo is also one of the first Gharial Crocodile breeding centers of India.
