Marble Temple Wat Benjamabopit, Thailand - Marble Temple

Temple, Scenic

The Marble Temple or "Wat Benjamabopit," as it is identified in Thai was built in 1899 A.D., during the sovereignty of King Rama the 5th as the place of religious legacy for the future cohorts of Thais. The chief temple was initially proposed to house a extremely holy and honored Lord Buddha known as Phra Buddha Shinaraja, which at the time was situated in the region of Phitsanulok. But when building of the Marble Temple was almost done, a duplicate of the Phra Buddha Shinaraja was formed and enshrined in the temple as an alternative, owing to that the people of Phitsanulok and northern Thailand were reluctant to part with their Buddha image, the key resource of their spiritual motivation.
