Located on a small hillock, Maharani Temple served as the royal temple of the Dogra kings in earlier times. It was built by Mohini Bai Sidodhia, wife of the erstwhile ruler of Kashmir, Maharaja Hari Singh. The shrine was also known as Mohineshwar Shivalaya and houses the idols of Lord Shiva and his consort Goddess Parvati. The temple is designed in such a way that it can be seen from all the corners of the valley of Gulmarg. The calm surroundings and scenic atmosphere of the place beckons a number of devotees to the temple.
