There is not so much to mention about the history of Yelagiri. It is a small hamlet that has remained untouched by the annexure of outside world. This hill town is dated back to the British colonial days. Before independence of the country, it was the private property of the Zamindar family of Yelagiri and in early 1950s, the government of India took held of the town. Away from city crowd, the quaint hill station is still a tribal land and a majority of tribal people dwells in the major part of the region.
