Visby Medieval City, Sweden - THE ALMEDALEN, KAJSARPORTEN, KLINTEN, VISBY TOWN MARKET SQUARE
A UNESCO World Heritage Site, Visby stakes its states to be the best conserved medieval city in Scandinavia. Situated in Gotland County in Sweden, this conurbation dates back to the 12th century.The most distinguished structure of the conurbation is the stone wall called Ringmuren. Constructed during the 13th century, it was built around to defend the already thriving city. Within this flawlessly preserved wall are several other historical sites worth visiting. Few of these are the Visby Sweden Cathedral, medieval trading houses, 17th and 18th century wooden buildings, the Historical Museum of Gotland, Dominican Monastery of St. Nicholas, and the Botanical Gardens. It is due to the gorgeous Botanical Gardens that Visby got the epithet the “City of Roses”.
