Scenic, Museum, Beaches

The Vasa Museum is a marine museum in Stockholm. Situated on the isle of Djurgården, the museum displays the only unbroken 17th century ship in the world, the 69 meter (226 feet) long warship Vasa that sank in 1628 on her maiden journey in Stockholm. Alongside with other museums in Sweden, such as Stockholm Maritime Museum, the Vasa Museum belongs to the Swedish National Maritime Museums. The museum was publicly opened on 15 June 1990 and has been seen by over 25 million people, thus hyped as the most visited museum in Scandinavia. Exhibitions including articles recovered from the vessel, interactive displays and audiovisual mediums tell the saga of 17th century sea battles, life aboard the Vasa, and the operation many years later to rescue the ship.
