Tung Fort, Lonavala, Maharashtra - Massive and gigantic edifice
Popularly known as Kathingad, Tung Fort is situated at the highest peak in the Mawal region. Literally, the Tung means the peak and therefore, to reach this attraction is not as simple as the others in Lonavala. The fort is situated at an altitude of 3500 feet and is made only for those who are very strong at their heart and loves to explore rough and tough daring trekking place. For starting trekking journey towards the fort, one has to do it from Phagne Dam located at the Pawna River. Though the Tung Fort does not retain its original appearance, yet the fort is left with a temple of Goddess Tungai.
