Travel Within Sundarbans

Sundarbans is located in the backwater region and hence the transportation network is mainly developed on river transport. There is only 300 km of pucca road network in the Sundarbans biosphere, thus the only means of transportation between the islands is through the waterways. The tourists can hire motorized boats or ferries from various places such as Gosaba, Palat, Namkhana, Kultali, Gangadharpur etc to reach the sanctuary. In addition to the waterways, some of the road transport options such as autos, buses, jeeps, trekkers and motorized van rickshaws are also available for travelling within the city of Sundarbans.
