On the northern side touching the lake is the popular spot of Nainital. Placed at the foothills of Alma Hill it is the place where the landslide occurred in 1880. After the landslide, the area was flattened and cemented and was named as Flatts and is made in honour of the 151 people who lost their lives. In the area is the Statue of Pt. GovindBallabh Pant with a beautiful fountain that offers many activities to enjoy like different games. In the area is the Naina Devi temple, a mosque and a Gurudwara which symbolises the religious unity of the town.
