Haryana - The perfect blend of History and Myth
Haryana, one of the North Indian states of India is making a prominent place on the pinnacle of tourist destinations. The state, also recognized as “The Madhyama Dis” –meaning middle region of the Later Vedic Period, was the origin of the Hinduism. This is the area where the first chorals of the Aryans were recited and the most ancient manuscripts were documented. The classic battle between the Kauravas and Pandavas, testimonial in the Indian epic verse - the Mahabharata, at Kurukshetra at Haryana - a place of spiritual significance in Haryana. Another place of spiritual importance, The Brahma Sarovar where tons of people impend to immerse a sanctified bath in this place on the occurrence of "Somavati Amavasya" – a Sacred No-Moon Day that happens on a Monday. The Sannihit Sarovar is said to be the gathering summit of seven blessed Saraswatis. Immersing in this on the day of Amavasya i.e. night of complete darkness or on the day of an eclipse is considered to be supreme blessings as equivalent to performing the Ashvamedh Yajna.
Karna Lake is a foremost tourist hotspot in the Karnal region. It is situated at a distance of 125 km from both the major cities Chandigarh and Delhi, therefore serving as an equidistant pit stop while roving between the cities on the renowned Grand Trunk Road. The legend is very captivating and keeps the tourists inquisitive. The Sultanpur National Park is a famous excursion spot particularly throughout the winter exodus months when thousands of birds drop-in here from across the world. There are four bird watch towers situated at different points, learning and construal center, a library, films, slides and binoculars are available for the bird lovers.
Faridabad - a lively industrialized town and one of the oldest townships in the state with amazing folklore and fascinating history. According to fable, it was established by monarch Jahangir’s Treasurer Shaikh Farid in AD 1607. Another legend says that it was found by the Baba Farid, a famous Sufi saint. His mazar (grave) in the township is a famous pilgrimage destination for the local inhabitants. Gurgaon is possibly the most significant of all Haryana towns. Initially it was called Guru Gram or Guru Gaon (teacher’s house), and learnings from the Mahabharata, Yudhishtra bestowed the area to Guru Dronacharya for his training on warfare and arms to the five Pandavas while they were still young. This was the place where Dronacharya trained archery to the Pandavas, and to use these expertises to overpower the Kauravas.
The conurbation famous for the Great Battle of Panipat is situated on the ancient banks of the Yamuna on a high mountain; this is the place where three battles of Panipat were fought, though there’s not much to explore except than the sterile ground! The first battle of Panipat, which took place in 1526 AD between the intruder Babur and Ibrahim Lodhi, witnessed the origin of the Mughal Empire in India.
