St Marys Cathedral Church, Jalandhar, Punjab - A beautiful ancient church
St Marys Cathedral Church is a beautiful ancient church which was built by Rev. Fr. John McDonnell in the year 1947. Many chaplains of Jalandhar which were appointed by the Diocese of Lahore looked after the church and in 1955, the Catholic Mission of the Indian Punjab was raised to the status of Apostolic Prefecture and opened its headquarter in Jalandhar. In 1987, this church got destructed and a new church was constructed. The foundation stone of this church was kept in 1986 by His Excellency Rt. Rev. Dr. SymbhorianKeeparth Bishop of Jalandhar Diocese with the blessings of Pope John Paul II. The Cathedral showcases the secular features of our country and is a much sought after religious site to be visited by the people of all religions in Jalandhar.
