This temple is situated at a distance of one kilometre from the railway station of mangalore. Mahaganapathi temple is an ancient temple located in the heart of the city. This temple was built nearly 800 years ago. Shavaru means an arrow and mythology goes that the maharaja Veerabahu killed a cow accidentally using his arrow. In order to repent for his mistake he built a Shivalinga which is now named and worshipped as Sharabeshwara. There are many shrines and temples inside this temple dedicated to the Shavarus, Kadris, Mangaladevi and Kudroli. The special occasions celebrated in this sanctuary are VinayakaChaturthi, Sharatheertha, Rathosthava, Deeposthava.its open during 6 AM To 8 PM for the visitors.
