Sandipani Ashram, Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh - An important center of learning since the times of Mahabharata

Temple

Apart from a religious city, Ujjain is also known as an important centre of learning since the time of Mahabharata. The commons say that at the Sandipani Ashram, Lord Krishna and Sudama used to be taught by Guru Sandipani. Near the ashram, there is an ancient place known as Ankapata and it is believed to be the place where Lord Krishna used to wash his writing tablet. A stone has been found here with the numerals 1 to 100 engraved on it by Guru Sandipani.
