Pava is a holy site for Jains which is located in the Nalanda District. It is about 38 kilometers from Rajgir. Around 500 BC, Lord Mahavira,the last of the 24 Tirthankars, achieved Moksha or Nirvana and was cremated at Pawapuri, also known as Apapuri (the sinless town).The place where he was cremated, a pond was created as there was a great rush to collect his ashes. As a result, the soil was removed from the place and the pond was created.Another attraction here is the Jain temple “Samosharam”, where the last teaching of Lord Mahavira was delivered.
