On the west of Troodos, one-and-a-half kilometers from Chrysorrogiatissa Monastery, is Pano Panagia, the native land of Archbishop Makarios III, first President of Cyprus. The house where he was born has been reformed into a museum. Visitors can see his parents' bed, plates and a variety of photographs of him and his family. The house demonstrates obviously the archbishop's humble origins. In the main quadrangle there is also a small museum and a cultural hub, which has more photographs of Makarios' government and various items of clothing, counting items burned in the coup of 1974. There is also a small library and photographs of current cultural events.
