This is one of the significant north Indian Buddhism centres. The valley is situated between the Zanskar Range and the Great Himalayas and is at an altitude of 3,505 fts. The valley is believed to be the inhabitant of Zanskar and is famous for its natural beauty. Lots of tourist visits the place all through the year. This lovely valley offers trekking routes and rich monasteries which should be visited in Leh. Starrimo and Karsha Monasteries are two important monasteries here. On a hilltop is the Starrimo Monastery designed by taking inspiration from Stupa Architecture. Karsha Monastery offers spectacular views of the green landscape.
