National Palace, Mexico - Palace, Diego Rivera Murals, History Museums

Scenic, Palace

The Palacio Nacional or the National Palace, situated on Mexico City's main square El Zócal, has been the presidential palace for Mexico's ruling community since the Aztec Empire. In fact, much of the construction material is plagiaristic from Moctezuma II palace or what is called "New Houses". Of particular interest are the multi-coloured murals adorning the stairwell that portrays Mexico's history. Diego Rivera painted these murals between 1929 and 1952. National Palace candidly emphasizes the rich cultural heritage of the city. Here one gets to also see the principle State Archives and vital historical documents.
