The voyage from Bumthang to Mongar is one of the most gorgeous in the Himalayas crossing 4,000m high Thrumshingla pass. Garrulous waterfalls, steep cliffs with even steeper drops, blistering flowers and continuously changing vegetation coalesce to make this journey as varied as it is striking. Mongar marks the beginning of Eastern Bhutan. The second biggest town in the sub-tropical east, Mongar like Trashigang further east, is located on the side of a hill in the contrasts to other towns of Western Bhutan which was built on the valley floor. The waterfalls, sleek curves and verdant vegetation on the way provide extravagant views.
