Manaus, Brazil - Lakes

Scenic

Manaus is situated in the heart of the Amazon where the two pristine rivers Rio Negro and Rio Solimoes meet to grow to be the Amazon River. It widens regally and sweeps around a glorious forest arena, before plummeting and booming in the tiered falls known as Iguaçu Falls. A total of 275 individual falls engage an area larger than 3km wide and 80m elevated that makes them broader than Victoria, lofty than Niagara and more stunning than any. Thousands of years ago they were explored by Europeans and today it is disproportionately shared among Brazil and Argentina, with Argentina claiming the bulk. The city is a popular ecotourism destination and serves as a doorway into the Amazon tropical rain forest and is a UNESCO world heritage site.
