Lumbini, Nepal - Park

Amusement Park

Lumbini, a town in the Tarai about 22 km west of Bhairawa, is famed as the place of birth of Siddhartha Gautama the historic Buddha, well-known as Buddha Shakyamuni. Located well off the tourist pathway, almost 250 km from Kathmandu, Lumbini is a worthwhile bypass from the itinerary from Pokhara to the Chitwan National Park. In this pilgrimage township, it is visited mostly by Buddhist pilgrims from Japan, Thailand and Tibet retracing Buddha's footsteps through the stations of his life. Lumbini is extraordinary only for its serenity, untouched by major celebrations and chiefly devoid of sights. Lumbini has been designated as the UNESCO list of world cultural sites.
