Lakshmi Vilas Palace, Vadodara, Gujarat - A splendid palace of royal era
Lakshmi Vilas Palace is one of the major highlights of Baroda that fascinates a huge number of tourist to witness the superb architectural excellence of the royal era. Built by Maharaja Sayajirao Gaekwad III in 1890 is the largest private residence palace constructed till date. The entire building was designed by Major Charles Mant in an Indo-Saracenic style of architecture. The splendid edifice is known for its eye catching interiors followed by multi colored marble flooring, intricate carvings, tasteful furnishings and opulent designs. One of the most extrinsic feature of the palace is its Darbar Hall dotted with Italian mosaic floor and stained glass windows. Extended over an area of 700 acres, the palace is enclosed with several other attractive buildings that make this place an enchanting attraction to be seen for sure.
