Culture of Lakshadweep
People
In broader sense, people of Lakshadweep Islands are categorized into four communities -Aminidivi, Koyas, Malmis and Melacheris. Though all the communities follow their own rituals but feel their pleasure in participating in the religious festivals or gatherings of the other group. This feeling of the people of Lakshadweep Island proves their soft heart and emotions for the other people.
Language and religion
Languages basically found on the tongue of the people of Lakshadweep are Mahl and Malayalam. But, most of the local people also speak English, Tamil, Hindi, Urdu, Bengali and Oriya.
Major group of the people of Lakshadweep used to follow Islam as per the Government records. Hinduism and Christianity are also equally followed in these exotic islands.
Food
Lakshadweep has lot to offer as cuisine. Sea foods are the main source of cuisine in these islands but even for vegetarians, there are lots of dishes. The food serve in these islands is very spicy and coconut flavor is much added in their cuisine.
Local festivals, Art and music
After seeing great celebration of local festivals of Lakshadweep by the local folks, there remains no need of words for describing about fabulous music and dance performance of the islands. The people of Lakshadweep are very good and skilled at their art and it is very clear from the handicraft items made by them.
