Kalasa is a small town near Kudremukh and is famous for its ancient Kalaseshwara Temple. Dedicated to Lord Shiva, the temple is located at the banks of River Bhadra. The temple is a fascinating piece of architecture and the idol of Lord Shiva made up of solid granite rock is the prime attraction of this shrine. It is believed that this town was originated at the time of wedding of Lord Shiva and Parvati. To celebrate the wedding ceremony of the Lord, an annual fair of GirijaKalyana is held here by the locals. Moreover, Kalasa is also known for its herbal plantations as well as coffee and spices plantation.
