Jata Shankar Caves, Pachmarhi, Madhya Pradesh - Scenic beauty
As the name suggests, Jata Shanker Cave is devoted to Lord Shiva. Literally, Jata means the hair and Shanker is the name of Lord Shiva. It is situated in the Hoshangabad district of Madhya Pradesh and very near to Pachmarhi. This natural cave is highly visited by the devotees of Lord Shiva every year and one could see lots of tourists flocking over the spot throughout the year. The cave also carries some myths along with it and the main among them is that the cave was formed by Lord Shiva to get protected from the attack of demon Bhasmasur. One could see 108 Shivlings in the cave and thin stream named Gupt Ganga. It is so named as no one knows from where it is originated!
