Among the highlights of the Hungarian handicrafts are earthenware and chinaware. Lace and embroidery of the Kalocsa or Matyas regions are well-known for their vibrant colors and motives. One can find shirts, skirts, dresses, jackets, bedding, tablecloths, cushions and tapestries. The carpets are also famous in Hungary for their eminence. Designed with graceful drawings, they are handmade in traditional Hungarian looms from the last century. Apart from these, it’s easy to shop for high quality Hungarian glass, antiques and delicate wood carvings in city shops and markets. In Budapest, Habsburg style antiques from the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries in the Castle district are commonly available.
