Gymkhana Club, Jorhat, Assam - The oldest golf course of Asia
Gymkhana Club is one of the oldest reminders of the British era in Jorhat. In 1876 this club was established as a recreation centre by D. Slimmon for the British and local people in the region. Presently it has a 9-hole golf course which is the oldest golf courses in Asia. It also hosts horse races and an annual event of the Governor’s Cup. Apart from golf course, the club also provides other sport facilities such as lawn tennis, polo, swimming and billiards.
