Grange, Yercaud, Tamil Nadu - A massive palace and summer resort of the British
Grange is one of the oldest architectural masterpieces in Yercaud which was built in the year 1820. It is in the form of a massive castle which was constructed by Collector M.D. Cockburn and was served as a summer resort of the British officers of East India Company. During the British period, the gun placements and canon bearers were also added to it. Besides, the extended fields of the Grange are also famed as the first commercial plantation area for the cultivation of apples, oranges and coffee. However, the place has lost its bygone charm but still it holds a special significance in the list of tourist’s attraction to be visited in Yercaud. Nowadays it has been converted into a resort.
