Madurai is also too famous for Muslims’ religious site also and Goripalayam Dargah justifies it. It is among the most visited mosque and one of the largest mosques in the city. Built in the 13th century by Thirumalai Nayakkar, the Dargah is located on the River Vaigai. The Dargah offers great views to its visitors and it is fabulous especially during nighttime. In Dargah, there lie two tombs of famous Muslim saints – Sultan Shamsuddin Badusha of Oman and Hazrat Sultan Alauddin Badusha. The structure of the mosque is too elegant and fine with 20 feet tall and 70 feet wide. At the festive time, especially during Urs Festival, the mosque becomes more colorful and mind-blowing.
