Zoo, Wildlife, Scenic

The Royal Zoological Society of Scotland under which the Edinburgh Zoo functions, houses over 1000 rare, unusual and endangered animals in the world. The society was established in the year 1909 and the Zoo was opened in the year 1913. Nestled up in 82 acres of parkland, the zoo is situated to the west of Edinburg city centre. Leopards, lions, otters, chimpanzees, Indian Rhinos, Jaguars, Asiatic Lions and Sumatran Tigers are the highlights of the zoo. Apart from animals, a wide range of bird species, reptile and amphibians are the other inhabitants. The main objective of the zoo is to create a hospitable and healthy natural habit for the species and to conserve the endangered animals.
