 Dinajpur, a district of North Bengal in Bangladesh was once called Kotivarsha or Devkot was a Vishayas district under Pundravardhana Bhukti in the early period. The historical and archeological records reveal that, the Mauryans, Guptas, Palas, Senas, and Muslims had rulled this region from 4th century BC until the reign of the British Raj. The place is highlighted by a medieval Krishna Temple, namely Kantaji Temple, situated 13 miles north of Dinajpur Township. It is one of the magnificently festooned terracotta edifice and an important historical and religious testimonial to the Hindu follower in Bangladesh.
